	Silly question - I have traced my Great Uncle and discovered that he died at Arras 23rd April 1917. Is there any way I could get a death certificate for him - my aunt is asking me as it was something my grandmother always wanted but was unable to obtain before she died;

	Joan - I have his details on the CWG site - gives the date, regiment etc but think aunt would like a 'cert' of some kind if possible

	It is possible to obtain a legal death certificate by applying to the GRO. The details can be obtained from the Findmypast website. Although these certificates are very short and to the point they do sometimes provide information not available elsewhere. One recent example of a death in France recorded that death was due to accidental drowning.
