Lost or Destroyed Records?

Karen here again,
With a surname like Duckhouse you'd think it would be relatively easy to find a couple of death records, namely my great grandparents but no. I am wondering if records from the late 1910's, 1920's 1930's could have been lost or destroyed in the second World War.
What I am trying to trace is death record for George Duckhouse born 1857 in Oldbury, I know he was alive in 1911 and some years after that as my mom (now aged 98) remembers him, he was last known to be living in Baldwin Street Smethwick with his daughter and her family Ada Toombs. Likewise his wife Nancy Duckhouse born Nancy Waterhouse in 1855 in Langley, she too is remembered my mom, George and Nancy married in 1884 in West Bromwich. Clues anyone? I have had mom searching through her memory for ages now, she is remarkable in lots of her memories, but for some reason this escapes her, so would like to be able to sort it out for both of us.
Thanks hopefully.
Karen

Basically, no. I can't say no records were destroyed, but for the dates you're talking about, come WW2 there would be 2 copies around anyway - the original in West Brom or whatever local RO, and the GRO copy at Somerset House, London, (later moved to Southport).

Wow Gwyn, this is brilliant, thanks so much, quite a 'Eureka' moment for me, this is most certainly them, how did you find them? Think I'll celebrate with a cup of coffee!
Thanks also mgnv for your help.

Hi Gwyn,
Thought I would let you know that I sent for the death certs of George and Nancy in amongst others, received them this week. Nice to have the info on where they lived out their years and also to find that the informant on Georges was my grandad (Frank) George and Nancy's son, and on Nancy's my grandma (Lily) Franks wife, and so have addresses for them too.
Just keeps getting more and more interesting.
Thanks again
Good wishes Karen.

Thank you for the update Karen.
Interesting information re. the informants.
We have discovered unknown family members that way.

You seem to be doing well.
Keep up the good work !
