There is still a conflict between windows xp and avg.
Alvera is just as good and is hassle free.for xp.
Alvira has a compatibility issue with vista however ,so i am running avg on vista and alvira on xp lol Fred.

I have had my computer to the experts twice in the past 10 months to sort it out, the last time was a month or so ago and it is still playing up. I am on Windows XP. It hasnt closed me down.

Thanks Everyone for your replies,

I thought it was just my laptop playing up at first but AVG did say there were 2 downloads and I tried several times since last night to download them but still no luck either.

I will give it another try later, hope you all manage to get yours sorted as well.

AVG's new version is dreadful. I've had nothing but problems with it, though found the previous versions very stable.

Another AVG problem? After using it for years I got fed up with not being able to download updates and switched to Avast instead, it updates no problem and even announces it has done so!
