we don't suggest that people stay around around for ever ......... just for a short time if you start your own thread on a question ....... and the answer is very simple.

We may not understand what you are asking, or we may need a little bit of extra information

There is nothing more annoying than to want to help someone who has forgotten to put on some very important information, eg the SURNAME, or the years that they want searching ........................... or we want to check the spelling of a name before we go hunting.

Maybe this will explain some of the problems, this is a thread in its entirety

Title of thread was Origin of Name

I agree that it's not always possible to wait around for replies. I posted one this afternoon on a general thread and don't think anyone's going to reply today (possibly never!) - although I'm not sure if it's because the query is way too stupid for a response.

Anyway, can't you just click on My Threads rather than bookmarking?

Either way, please thank these kind people that give their time to help us out.

There are a lot of people on here, including myself, whi enjoy helping other. It is not a lot of fun if you Post an enquiry and never come back either to benfit from, or to at least acknowledge, the amoiunt of work we have done to help you.
Some folk say.stay at your computer for a while so you can pick up an answer........I don't necessarily agree, because answers are not often that quick.
MT VERY BIG TIP is this.........post your enquiry and then BOOKMARK the thread you are enquiring upon. This means you never lose the thread, even if it takes days to get back to you.
So when you log on..you go to "My Bookmarks" and you will find immediately what answers you have.
I am aware of how quickly your question can disappear way down the order, and not be easy to find.
So Bookmark Bookmark Bookmark!!
then at least acknowledge any answers you get, and you can ask any more questions that you need, and expand your knowledge on the basis of what we have done for you.

Thank You!!

Derek
