Tried that Dugless and nothing,

So strange and really annoying.

Shall I try uninstalling and reinstalling a different version?

Donna.

Very odd! Try this…

Open a PDF file either in Adobe Reader or the much better Fox-It [also free]. Go up to the menu bar at the top and click on file. Come down the menu that appears and click on Print. This will open the Print dialogue box. Question: is the printer shown as your Brother with which I am not familiar? As it’s the default it should be. If it isn’t click on the down arrow by the side of the box and select your printer.

Now check the Properties button. Check the paper size, etc and whether you want colour or greyscale. All property boxes vary so I can’t be specific. If everything is OK click on OK. Back in the Print dialogue box, click on OK. If your printer is on and plugged in, logic says it should print.

If it doesn’t then I’m baffled. Sumfinks funny somewhere!

Note: do not print using the printer button on the toolbar! This prints at what ever setting was last used which may not be appropriate.

Hello again,

Dugless hanks for your help,

I done as you said, my printer was in the list and it was ticked as default.

My printer is a Brother DCP-115c.

It will print anything but PDF & Word documents.

If you can’t print anything from your computer, and you do indeed have a printer connected, then it sounds like a driver problem. Check the name and model of your printer. On your computer, click on the Start button and look in the lists that appear for ‘Printers and faxes’. If it does, click on it. A window will open showing you what printers are installed. Is your printer there? If it is, does it have a tick by the side indicating it’s the default printer?

Retracing our steps, the printer is there but it’s not ticked. OK, right click on the printer icon and in the menu that appears come down click on ‘set as default printer’. Your computer should be able to print.

Your printer’s not there? That can only mean that Windows doesn’t recognise it and you may need to find the installation CD that came with the printer. You then click on the ‘Add printer’ icon on the left of the printers window. Or find a local IT expert!

Point to watch: I use XP. Vista may be different.

Donna, if no one else can help, nip over to the Family Tree Forum and put a query on the soft ware board there.

Donna, do you not have another tree program on your computer?

Dugless

Dugless Report 10 Mar 2009 14:15

If they are indeed Word docs or PDFs, and you do have a printer connected, then there's no reason why the should not print. Can you print a Word doc that you have created yourself?

Given that most of us keep our family tree on our own computers, and not just on GR, why do you need the forms anyway? I've never used them.

Does anyone know of some decent forms that I can print off the net please.

Most of the ones I have found are PDF or Word documents and for some unknown annoying reason my computer/printer just will not print them.

I am looking just to print off a site or something maybe please.

Your help is appreciated.

Also posted on trying to find.....cos I am lol

Donna.
