Hi, I'm a novice at this but am trying to obtain the birth cert for my twin brothers who were probably adopted. I have their names and date of birth and have found the Birth Registry entry in 1964. If they were adopted will I be able to order the birth cert or are birth certificates of adopted people unavailable? PS I would be grateful for any advice on where to search next, they were probably adopted from a Catholic mother and baby home near Islington.

the original birth cert entry usually has an annotation by the side of it which will relate to the adoption ,BUT you wont be able to get the adoption details or any papers issued at the time of the adoption re the new name amd adopted parents.
. I think you may be able to get the original birth certs providing you have actual date of birth and parents, or mothers name if no father named This is because they are under 50 years old and its to prevent identy theft.
