I know someone who changed his name to please his wife. It was his second marriage and she didnt want to be a second Mrs?

I know someone else who had a Polish name which was hard to remember and spell . He hated his father and vice versa . He asked his mother if he could change his name to her maiden name and she agreed

I changed my name by statutory declaration and moved 200 odd miles to a) inherit from my wifes' grandmother and b) to disappear, very successfully, and leave behind a lot of bad stuff.

I've known a man to change his surname to his wife's, as her father had no sons, to continue her family name. The incentive was to inherit a nice trust fund from father in law.

Or quite possibly in a relationship with someone/marriage and changed name to hers/his or double barrelled them both.

Friends of ours both changed their surnames on marriage by double barrelling his middle name and last name.
