It just says Portland, USA in 1901.

Hello, Thanks for your reply, yes I did realise that ,and have been on various sites entering his name Leonard Train, the 1901 cenus said he came from Portland Oregon, he then stayed here and raised a family, I have tried various (including Ancstory and many others) to find his past but without success, I thought as he was a seaman there maybe naval records, but where do you get those from...more questions than answers.

My great grandfather was born in Portland USA and according to his marriage certificate he was a seaman on the Osceola docked at the Bute Docks Cardiff in the late 1870's, I can't find any information on him on any census lists American or others ,is it possible to get infomation from any other sources, ie. naval records I have been trying for several years to find anthing and am on the verge of giving up. A help from anyone would be very grateful Thanks
