Hi Kath,

OMG, I had a feeling there could have been a couple more children I was not aware of but now the family has doubled in size!

I am absolutely over the moon, seems like the 1891 census was a good idea. Funny though, as I had been looking on Find my Past at the 1881 census and saw George and Maria, thought it was weird seeing another Maria Elmore also born in Dagenham but didn't think it was the same family so I discarded it.

I am so so grateful, I am lost for words and that is not like me at all as my friends can vouch.

Thank you so much for your time and efforts
Rose

If it's the right family, I think this is them in 1881. The children match but for some reason John has become "George". (Job description looks right, though.)

1881 - Florence Road, East Ham, Essex
George Elmore Head Mar 27 Gas Works Stoker b. Essex Barking
Maria Elmore Wife 26 b. Essex Dagenham
Elizabeth Elmore Daur 4 Scholar b. Essex Plaistow
John Elmore Son 3 b. Essex Plaistow
Harriet Elmore Daur 2 b. Essex Plaistow

Hi Kath,
Crikey a lot of typing in such a short time! In 1901 the family lived in Prince of Wales Road, Plaistow West Ham.

After all your hard work I do not think any of those details fit. John Ennor came from Islington and my John was born in Barking. John Elamer
did not have a sister Susie. Johns mother had 10 children as far as I know and Susie is not on my records.

I didnt think about the 1891 census, maybe that would be helpful if you would not mind getting the details for me. I had a quick look on Ancestry,
entered Maria Elmore, born 1855, Dagenham in the new style Ancestry
and the details came up (3rd one down the page)
Maria Elmore
spouse John
abt 1855 Essex

This should be the family I am looking for. I hope you dont mind looking for me. I have no idea what Johns occupation would be but he was a gas stoker in 1901.

Thank you Rose

The family I found in 1881, in 1891 - their surname is written down as "Jrit". John is down as John Ennor Jnr and the transcriber has taken Jnr as "Jrit" and thought it was their surname.

1891 - St. Columb Minor, Cornwall
John Ennor Jnr Head M 37 House builder and surveyor b. London Islington
Maria Ennor Wife M 36 b. Cornwall Newquay
Edward J Ennor Son 12 Scholar b. Cornwall Newquay
Amelia Ennor Daur 10 Scholar b. Cornwall Newquay
William H Ennor Son 9 Scholar b. Cornwall Newquay
George H Ennor Son 7 Scholar b. Cornwall Newquay
Edith Ennor Daur 6 Scholar b. Cornwall Newquay
Joseph Ennor Son 2 b. Cornwall Newquay
Mary S Hooper Visitor Unm 19 Living on own means b. Cornwall Newquay

Can you give the details of where to find them on the 1901 census, to make it easier to know exactly who we are looking for in the 1881 census?

Hi,
Is anyone able to tell me why I cannot find my gt grandfather and his family on the 1881 census other than they went on holiday!
I have looked at other phonetic surnames i.e. Ellmore, Elmor,Elmer but cannot find them. I have the details from 1901 but it is possible that another child was born before 1885 which
may not appear on the 1901 census as they married in 1873.

Many thanks Rose
