I started researching when I was in college in the late 70's - 1980's. I ordered all of my certificates from the Ontario government and they were $10 (I believe the earlier ones were $5.00). So, if the fees were $10 about 25 years ago, the cost must have risen since then.

My mum and I were trying to order copies of certificates several years ago and just genealogy ones were less expensive than ones needed for actual proof of marriage. (Hope that makes sense.)

Yes I'm in Canada but I've never bought a certificate here. My ancestors are all in England. Just checked with hubby, he thought he paid about $25 for his here in Ontario but when I checked the Registrar General site for Ontario they were quoting $72. 25 for birth certificates and $62. 25 for deaths. Incredible!!! Am I reading it wrong?

Margaret, are you in Canada?
If so in your opinion would that be a reasonable cost for a cert. I haven't had any from abroad before.

Can anyone advise the best place from where I can get death certificates from British Colombia, Canada.
Also what is the cost compared to stirling.

Thanks.
