BRICK WALL - AGAIN

I have a the birth cert for my husbands father born in Stoke 1931- mother Doris Davies - no father. I know Doris ' married ' a man called field and lived in london had another son James Field born 1937 but cannot find a marr. or death for Doris.
Can anyone help

When you say that you can't find the marriage, have you looked through the complete images quarter by quarter?
You won't find the marriage on the quick search because they have not been transcribed that far

Hi Linda

Have searched from 1932 up to 1942 and found nothing son James was born 1937
We know she died late 60's early 70's but cant find that either

Seems like she disapeared after 1931

maybe they were not married. if Mr Field went along with Doris to register the birth of James, his name could be put on the birth certificate.It might be worth buying this certificate because this will tell you what Doris's name was at that time

Have sent for it but as i'm not the most patient person in the world i tried looking for a marr. or death and found nothing

You sometimes have to search FAR beyond what you imagine, some people married a good 20 years after their kids were born.

Get back and carry on.

Hi Julie

My gg grandparents married in 1890, by which time they had children aged 14, 12 and 8. He was a widow on his marriage cert, so presumably he had to wait till his first wife died. Another contact of mine didn't marry till his daughter was 21 - after his first wife died.

Just keep going through the quarterly records. It's a bore, but it will be there somewhere.

Hi Julie James A Field his parents were not married when he was born as he is registered under James A Field and James A Davies
