Once again, thank you - wikipedia has an interesting and enlightening article. Handsworth Histotical Society created a record of every monument in the churchyard which runs to 6 volumes and deposited copies with the BMSGH Society, Society of Genealogists, London, Local Studies Dept, Birmingham Reference Libary and Stafford County Record Office.

Hi Alan

I am sure there is a list of Memorial Inscriptions at St Mary's Church yard in Birmingham Central Library.

Sorry I should have been more specific St Mary's closed to new burials in 1909 according to the city council

St Mary's Churchyard opened in the 16th century and the first burial was in 1558 - the churchyard closed in 1909.
Handsworth cemetary opened in 1909
Let me know if you need further information

I am trying to find out about if Handsworth Old Churchyard still exists as I am trying to find out if there is a headstone for a burial that took place in 1908.
I have tried Google and can get details of the cemetary which opened in 1909 and reference to St Marys Church but can anyone confirm that the Oldhurchyard was that of St Marys Church or if not where the Oldchurchyard was and what has become of it? Is it still an oldchurchyard or has it been redeveloped?

Thanks for reading this and hoping for some information.

Alan
