It was when they were talking about how he had changed his name on arriving in London and the signature on the photocard flashed into my mind - A Jarchy. Its a fab photo, when you think it was such a poor area - I think this photo of my Grandad must have been for his apprenticeship in the merchant navy. Its so well done, looks like its from now.

I also have copies of my GGP and some of their kids, taken outside their little "cottage" in Bermondsey - I wonder if he took that too. Oh and a very striking one of my GUncle and 3 of my GAunts, so fantastically casual. Im pretty sure it must have been him - its so good.

That's so cool, Heather! I admit I checked the old photo I have of my GG Grandmother, but sadly it wasn't one of his :D

Kath, one of my photos is my Grandad aged about 13 so that would be c1891 - its a beautiful photo very well taken. When I was watching WDYTYA when they did Suchet, I suddenly realised it was his grandfather who took the photo- I recognised the name on the photo card and then they gave the address. I whipped up to my album and yep, it was taken by him. Gave me a real thrill.
