Hi Everyone,

Thanks for all your replies.
The birth years are 1963 and 1965.

I have all the information for the GRO ..ie parents names as the parents are cousins of mine.

Hopefully going to send for these certs this week-end.

I'm not sure what date you're looking for but you can't order a birth cert less than 50 years old without a lot of additional information.

Sometimes there is an error in the original certificate which later comes to light. This can lead to an ammended entry being made later and the original entry annotated with the quarter and usually the year of ammendment.

Look for the same entry being ammended in the september quarter of the same year.

Your friend must be right as I have just checked one in 1967 and it has "s" at the end.

Hi Sue

My brother was adopted(1945) and his birth cert reference number did not have /s at the end ( just re- checked)

It did say "adopted" on the cert though, sorry cant be any more help

Could someone help please.
I have been told that the reference number for the page to order a birth certificate if it has /s on the end,the child has been adopted.
ie 7b 527a/1015/s 1016/s
This is for a birth certificate I want to order from the GRO.
Is my friend right.
