Hello,

I don't suppose anyone knows of any links to old newspapers online in the Manchester/salford area?

Thanks in advance,

Alison.

Try:
Wandsworth Heritage Service at:

Battersea Library,
265 Lavender Hill,
London SW11 1JB.
Old Parish registers, local newspapers, some cemetery records. 1992 edition of IGI etc
www.wandsworth.gov.uk/museum and click on Local History

I don't know if they do research but were very helpful on a visit some years ago.

For a prisoner as recent as 1911, the best place to look will be local newspapers. As it's Wandsworth, Times Online may have something, depends on how serious the charge was.

I've just found one of my ancestors in Wandsworth prison on the 1911 census. Does anyone know if you can look records relating to this?

thanks
