Thank you for all your help I'm doing this for a friend and she's convinced the Vockins all came from Wiltshire .
I am now reading a diary Frederick Vockins wrote about his time in 2nd Wiltshire regiment 1899-1902.How do we find details of his time in army?

As you said he was born 1872 according to 1911 census, could this be his birth reg?

I think i will get marriage certificate, but i wondered if it would have fathers name on it as the submitted familsearch only has a mothers name.Also if i could find a birth on him i could get that certi as well
in 1911 census his wife Edith Ester b 1887 and Frederick Henry b 1872 but can't find birth for that date either

Didn't notice it was a submitted record.

In that case they quite often show a yob as 25 years before the marriage. So, 1885 is only a guess and likely to be wrong.

Do you have his army records?

Otherwise I think you will need the marriage cert to find out his age and to clarify dad's name.

The birth isn't on Free BMD.

The one you have quoted is a submitted record from familsearch.

Can't see him in Ancestry - even just trying forename, yob and Wiltshire shows nothing likely ...

Please could someone look for Frederick in 1891.I'VE looked in The Genealogist and cannot find him there.In 1899 he was in the army so is not in 1901
