Hi
Can anyone tell me if the mothers maiden name on a birth cert is definately a maiden name or could it be a first marriage name.

Sorry, this might sound like a silly question but I am the asker of all silly questions!

If the info was given accurately, the MMN is just that.

If the woman had been previously married, that surname should also be on the cert.................as in 'formerly XXXX late XXXX, or vice versa............I can never remember which way round the wording is..............but the gist of it is the same............
