Think a lot of us have the same problem.

Both my Irish Grt,grt Grand parents came here from Ireland and married here in 1853, but both say they are from Ireland Waterford and Dublin in all census..
I have been looking in IGI for Ireland to try and find a marriage
I struck lucky yesterday and found the married cert right here in England. So I'll be getting that sooooooooon....
The spelling was misspellt from O'Neill to Neale
At least I will know who their Parents are.

One happy Bunny...LOL

It's an impossible task . My GG grandad was born in Ireland in the 1780's, no idea where or when. He married in England in 1826 , he and his family are in the 1841 census but by 1851 when there may have been more info on the census he was already dead :-((-------My brickwall.

Thanks for the info.

The family name is Clifford.
They appear in the 1841 census living in Holborn.
They have a male child that died in July 1841 that was a year old (1 year old). The census document is not clear as to where he was born.
The previous child was born about 1835 in Ireland, so I am pretty sure they came to England between 1835 and 1840.
If the son was born in Ireland that narrows the date even further to about 1840 and early1841 (census time)
Regards
Stuart

Hi Stuart,

I too would like to know how to find that out; my great grandfather was in Ireland in 1911 but then in England in 1919 but I don't know when he came over.

I hope someone can point us in the right direction

Does anyone have any ideas on how to track down (how and when) relatives comming from Ireland (Kerry ?) to England (Holborn, London) between about 1835 and 1840. I can see them in the 1841 census, but would like to know when they actually arrived in England.
