Donna, I doubt if you have done anything wrong.

The problem is GR's latest upgrade. It has lost all my photos and had also deleted many of my marriage dates and death dates. Much of that material has been on my tree for several years now so for it to simply vanish overnight is most odd. Perhaps it will reappear when GR has fixed THEIR bug.

Hi Donna,

For what it's worth:

I now only put the barest minimum in my GR tree - enough for matches to show up and to share with others.

This is as a result of some scary topics about online trees disappearing, and also things like people copying all your hard-earned research findings from trees.

I started off with a huge GR tree, but deleted it because I panicked. I had also, naively, included the names of living people on my tree, and then realised that this was risky - as well as being unfair to them.

As I discovered what a huge investment of time and effort is involved in building a proper tree with photos and additional info, I bought a separate genealogy software package designed especially for this purpose.

This is now mine, it's reliable, well-organised, backed-up; I will always have it and can update/copy/distribute it as I wish. Also it is more secure.

Good luck!

Liz

Hi can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please. I have attached photos to my people in my tree, it tells me that I have done it succesfully and then the photos never appear?? Also yesterday I spent over an hour inputtin data on one person. I saved it checked it and it was ok. Today when I have gone back into that person all the data I put in yesterday has gone??

I hav so much information and I do not want to spend hours inputting it for it to disapear.

Any ideas?
