The 1901 census is not yet complete. The remaining counties will be added over the coming months. To stay up to date please make sure that you’ve signed up to receive our newsletter.

You can do a search by address on findmypast.com. You need to buy credits, but each search uses only 3 and they don't seem to have a time limit on them (unlike GR credits!). You can also move backwards and forwards to see neighbouring houses so if the house doesn't have a number you could "move along" the street to find it.

Not on Ancestry only on the 1901 site:
http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

The only way to do an address search on Ancestry is the long way by finding the county then the district etc and then looking at the Enumerators Description. If you find what you are looking for you then have to look at each image till you get to the right one. I have done it but it was only a tiny village.

I'm not sure it's possible to do an address search on Ancestry although someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

There is a 1901 site where you can put the address in.

If you have info from the 1891 or 1911 census try looking for the neighbours at that time and searching for them ... that occasionally helps.

does anyone know, is it possible to do a search on just a house name on the 1901 census on Ancestry? I have no names of any residents, just the house name/town etc...

thanks:)
