National archives Documents on line has Dennis Hoban Machine Gun Corps Regimental number 28964 -Rank Private on it's war medel list -you can get a copy for £2

I would think it was Machine Gun Corps-If you go to National Archives and look in Documents online on Medal cards of WW1 ,with his name it might give more detail

Hello all,

I found out yesterday that my great grandfather was involved in the First World War however I don't understand his role:

It states; Hoban D, Driver, MGC

Can anyone tell me what a 'Driver' would have done (I assume he drove tanks) and what MGC stands for?
