I haven't used ancestry for a while. I cant seem to find the QUARTERLY Birth indexes. All I can find are the transcribed indexes 1837 to 1915 & 1916 to 2005....I need to look at the quarterly ones for particular years...hope this makes sense??
Any clues anyone? Thank you:)

Yes they appear to have don't they? Thought I was missing something. Thanks Julia.

I really don't like the way the search facility brings up various people in the births. I specified a year and it brought other years up aswell .what a pain...

I like to search by quarter............gggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

You can still view the original scans, it is just a different route.

I've bookmaked http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx

Don't worry that both birth links suggest the records are transcribed only, click on the 1916-2005 or 1837-1915.
Then type in surname of family and year, plus quarter too if you like.
You then click on the magnifying glass "view image" icon to bring up the original page. It will, of course, have all the other names on for that surname which is presumably what you want?

I'm impressed with the improvement in coverage of the post 1915 section as it is so quick to pinpoint potential siblings now. Surname + Mother's maiden name is brilliant now, especially if you have a family with an uncommon name.

Go to the 1837-1915 Transcribed Indexes. When you do a search a list will come up that includes Quarter of Registration and a column marked 'View Image'. Click on this to see the image for that quarter.

You will probably see on that page listings for other quarters for that year which you can check if you wish. If all the quarters for that year do not show try searching for just the surname so you will get more results.

When you are looking at the image if the first name you need is not on the page you can scroll forward/backwards to another page as necessary.

I know this sounds complicated but it does work.
