Thanks Richard, I found them a wee while ago when I found William Dobson Junior's birth and death certificate on the NSW website along with jane Ann Dobson's marriage certificate. I've also made contact withe the current memebers of her family living in balmain NSW

Just in case you haven't seen it already - William Dobson junior's WW1 attestation documents are on www.naa.gov.au . His sister Jane Ann Dobson was next of kin. Go to record search, search as a guest, William Weymiss Dobson.

These are the only 3 births on Scotlands People website for the years 1857 and 1858!! None for Fife area though!!

Yes he is married to Isabella Robertson. On the 1901 census it lists him as having 3 children George Dobson, William Dobson and Jane Ann Dobson. I know they all apart from George emigrated to Australia somewhere between 1901 and 1913. They lived in Dundee. and Isabella was born in Arbroath.

WIlliam was recorded on the 1881& 1891& 1901 census as being Deaf & Dumb

In 1891, William was aged 33 and was an Iron Dresser.

In 1901 William was living at 8 Jole Street, Dundee with his family

William (Head) 43yrs Iron Labourer Born Leven, Fifeshire
Bella (Wife) 34 yrs Jute WInder, Born Arbroath
George (Son) 16yrs Labourer, Born Lochee, Dundee
William (Son) 13yrs Scholar Born Dundee
Jane Ann (Daughter) 6yrs Scholar Born Dundee

Please can you list the census details? It would really help and saves us having to keep asking questions.

Hi, Can anyone help? My great great grandfather was born deaf and dumb. He was married but his parents were listed as unknown on his marriage certificate. I have checked the 1881 and 1871 census and one says he was born in Leven, fife, Scotland and the other states he was born in Kirkcaldy, Fife Scotland. I can't find his birth for 1858 on Scotland's People. Does anyone know how I can find his birth?
