You have to buy the marriage cert for their fathers names and occupations and their addresses of residence plus witnesses and hopefully the bride and grooms ages.

From that solid info you work backwards to find their parents.

The GRO reference given can be used to buy the certificate from GRO online for £7.

Please read the Tips for Newbies thread. Ill bump it up for you.

quite possibly i will check that but what im looking for is who their parents were
you are correct as my mother was born in 1919 and a sister in 1921

They had a daughter in 1919 Cardiff
So I am guessing that this could be the marriage

There are so many people with these names that the certificate seems to be your only bet.

Have you got a copy of their marriage cert. this would give their father's names and occupations.

i want to build my family tree of the welsh side of my family and unfortunately can only go back as far as my grandparents george edward thomas and ellen beatrice thomas nee jones residing in cardiff(grandfather died in 1950 and grandmother in the late 60s) my grandfather was a chief engineer in the merchant navy
i would like to trace their parents names etc (i dont know if my grandfather had any siblings-i believe at least one sister but i know my grandmother was one of abt 6-7 daughters)
appreciate any help
