You could send off for the birth cert if it is over 50 years ago. If it's less than 50 years you will need date of birth, parents' names etc. But otherwise, send off for it. It should, as Janet said, show mother's normal address at the time of the birth.

To search electoral rolls you need an address as they are not indexed by name.

i understand you saying if she was the informat it would give address
but the only person i can ask about the birth cert is the person it belongs to ... and its her i have to tread carefully ... dont want to upset her

and her mother past a few year ago

If she was the informant of the births she had to give her normal residence. So long as she didn't lie that would give you an address to look for on the electoral roll

she did have two children but unfortunatly they wasnt home births

and they did not know they were born in bradford till they got there birth certs them selves ...

thing is its a bit delicate so i need to tread carefully..

thanks for your advice looks like its a trip to bradford library for me

hi all

i was wondering if anyone knows how i go about finding out were in bradford my mother in law lived in the 1950,s and if she lived with anyone...
