I also found this website:

http://www.nas.gov.uk/guides/crime.asp

which implies that some precognitions can be searched for, and as you appear to have a reference number, you might be in luck.

Joan

A dictionary search tells me that in Scotland "precognition" involves taking a statement from a possible witness prior to a court case, so that the legal people can decide how to approach the situation in advance. I wonder if, in your case, it means the coroner or doctor took a statement from whoever found her, in order to decide whether or not an inquest was needed?

Hi again Joan, I just wondered really if anyone else might have been injured in the fire, well I presume it was a fire that broke out in the house she was living in, it states on the certificate she was found dead on the floor at 8.50 pm and was last seen alive at 7.pm,doesn't say who found her, husband or fire service, I am sure there was nothing suspicious , I am just curious, but I will take the certificate to my local records office and see what they can tell me.

best wishes

One of my ancestors died from smoke suffocation in 1917, on her death certificate at the side it states result of precognition see Reg of correction entry Vol 5 P 100 ( or 200 very difficult to read ) ----251917, would anyone be able to tell me what this means, I am wondering also if this might have been in the local newspaper , I have googled but can'y seem to come up with any paper for that area, she died in Weir street, Glasgow, any advice would be great.
Thank you
jean
