Just highlight the box and press Delete, or simply type over it. It works the same as it did before.

If it won't let you then there is a possibility that there is some corruption with your browser. It could be a GR problem but this is unlikely as most people aren't having problems.

I had a problem with Firefox corruption a few months ago when the purple buttons were greyed out and wouldn't work. I restored back to the previous day and it worked ok.

Was it working before then suddenly stpopped? Have you installed updates recently? Have you made any other changes? IE is now on version 8 so it might be worth installing this if you haven't already, otherwise try a restore back to when you know it was working.

Hi Carole, not quite sure whats happening for you but try clicking on to the 'forename' box by search and then pressing the backspace key. Effectively it helps to highlight what's in the box and then delete it by backspacing it.

repeat with the surname box. hope it works

good luck, Linda

My tree is quite big therefore I need to type a name in the search box to find the person I want but it wont let me delete my name to type in the person I'm looking for.
I keep clicking but nothing is happening!
Does anyone know a way round this?
Thankyou Carole xx
