Divorce records

For divorces in the 1900's you can write to the following address:-

PRINCIPAL REGISTRY FAMILY DIVISION
FIRST AVENUE HOUSE
42-49 HIGH HOLBORN
LONDON WC1 6NP

They will do a 10 year check for a divorce and it costs about £30. You need to know both of the couple's names and if possible the date of marriage.

The marriage registration stays in the marriage index even after a divorce.

Is it possible to find a register of Divorces - is such a thing kept? I have tried to Google it and get a result but it leads nowhere, it takes you onto The National Archives site. What happens, does anyone know with the marriage record once a person is divorced is there any cross referencing ie I have been(not that I want one!!! that is a chapter best forgotten!!!)
Thanks for any help
