Hi Beverley

I would 1st off get one of the children's B/C William, George or Elizabeth's as they will give you their Mums maiden name Just to confirm that the marriage you found is correct

Then you'll need the M/C for their Dads name as im struggling to find Margaret before & after that marriage, it will also tell you if Charles had married before oroviding he never told a porkie lol

Unfortunately this is where this hobby starts getting expensive

Hi Julie

I haven't got the marriage certificate, but found a marriage for Charles & Margaret(nee Wescott) Gough Married 1895, West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire.

Maybe I need to order this to progress any further.

It appears Charles may have been married twice, looking at the marriage you have found, do you think possibly it is his children that have died and not from the second marraige.

I am at work at the moment and have only just had the chance to check back.

My appologies

Have you tried looking on Free BMD Births and Deaths for children called Gough in Liverpool this might help to solve which of your family have died unfortunately it will not give you the mothers maiden name as was given until 1911
Lancs BMD might also be of some help again it won't give the mothers maiden name but it will give the area the birth was registered

Hi all, I have tried to find this family on the 1901 census, but without any joy. Maybe someone else would have better luck. much appriciated.

Charles & Margaret(nee Wescott) Gough Married 1895, West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire

Charles Gough 1864 manchester, poster genral (1911 census)
Margaret (wife)1873 Liverpool
William (son) 1898
George (son)1901)
Elizabeth (daughter)1902

There is another 2 children on the 1911 census but they would not be on the 1901 census.

1911 census says 4 children died so other children may be found on the census.
1911census living in Liverpool, 6 Hunters Grove, Hunter Street.

Thanks
