I can't see the point of putting living relatives on in the first place, then going to great lengths to hide the details. Why not leave them off altogether?

Incidentally the security bit is rather overegged. There are easier ways of getting hold of names and addresses than searching on GR.

Far more fraud occurs because people are careless with their credit card details and pin numbers, or worse still, issue cheques with their name and address on the back and a copy of their signature and bank details on the front.

hiya

They don't get a message sent as I deleted a tree by mistake and asked for permission again....

I hide my living relatives as it's safe from security and fraud reasons( ie name dob parents names, address) as a lot of peoples passwords are usually their mothers maiden names.

I have heard of fraud off other sites with not hiding living relatives

Just thought Id let some people know who don't already

I don't think they are - I'm not certain as I don't think I've ever got a message saying anyone's tree is closed to me, although I have removed access from other people so they can't see mine.

HI,

Does anyone know if you have previously allowed access to your tree, then you stop access, do they get sent a message?

I have just stopped access to a couple of people that I found have been using some of the information I had entered for their own means especially for my living relatives. I have now stopped them having access but I am wondering if they are contacted automatically or not?
