Well,
you've hit the nail on the head Jennifer.
I now have two fathers names no mothers,a residence that the vicar just says "James Street" and one fathers occupation that is unreadable!
So i will have to try and decipher it so that i can trace the two families in the 1881 census to determine who the mothers were
Gawd!

Well done, I remember my first cert as it caused more questions than answers and took me on a long and winding trail.

Jennifer

PS I now have about 40 certificates so be warned this is addictive.

Blue you can order a marriage cert with just one name and the GRO ref number eg district-vol-page etc,

If you are using the GRO from FreeBMD I recommened that you check the actual image , you can do this on the site. Don't forget that the images have been transcribed by volunteers and mistakes can be made. I do transcribing so I know how difficult it can be.

Just one party in the marriage will suffice, you do not need both. Enter the year/quarter/district/volume and page number from FreeBMD.

I actually has a surprise with my last two certs, estimated dispatch date was 14th April after Easter, expected them to get here about 30th, dispatched on 8th, received on 19th!

Hi Sounds as if you have done it right, I think they also give you the choice to put in the partners name, just so they can cross check it, but as long as you have the page no, and vol no, you should be find, oh, and of course the name...when you have paid for it, it should tell you the expected day it will be send to you, which is good, only problem is....you are sitting there chewing your nails waiting for the darn postman....good luck....Lilly
