Astra, Alderley Edge is now at Bucklow but until 1937 it was Macclesfield.

Helen, the staff at Macclesfield Records Office are first rate. You might be able to find your relative on the cheshirebmd website, and if you order a certificate by post you can specify things such as parents names to make sure you have the right one.

Births are usually recorded within six weeks so the answer would be yes.

Would it have been possible for a person born on the 8th September 1924 to have been registered during the October/November/December period? I wondered if there was a time limit in place....

Also, could someone steer me towards the registration district for a birth in the same year in Alderley Edge, Cheshire?
