Thanks very much for your help.

Can anyone tell me if there are any websites or forums where I can post a 'trying to find in USA'

I have sent off for Thomas's birth certificate, but really I need to go forwards to when he was in America and started his new life. On his sons marriage cert is says Thomas was a policeman.

Grateful for any help.

Try Ancestry. He should be on the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses.

You don't list details so I can't help.
