How about this one? Have you seem the actual image and confirmed the age? This one fits nicely between Laban and Frederick.

Births Dec 1901

Please ignore my last post.

Have just found a reference for John William Green for the oct/nov/dec quater of 1901 which if it turns out to be him would mean that he was 9 not 8 as shown on the census.

It was meant just to be a simple query to find out about registration costs, and would not have attracted any attention if I had put it on the end of the other thread.

My Grandfather, who at the time was a Superintendant with the Pearl Assurance Company, filled in the census form himself so I doubt if the ages of the children are wrong.

I have birth certificates for both Laban (April 1900) and Frederick (Mar 1903) and John William is between their names on the census list and age is given as 8 which is the same as Frederick.

I have been wondering why he is the only member of the family to have 2 christian names perhaps he was christened William and John was just a family name. could that be possible? mind you I cant find a G.R.O. reference for a William that fits either

Thats ok - although not a good idea to have more than one thread running with the same subject matter. and why the two different board names?

Oh and incidentally, have you considered the possibility that one or other of the ages on the 1911 census is incorrect?

Thanks for that answer, the details are pretty well covered on the thread 'John William Green'

As far as I know there was no charge for the actual registration, twins would be registered at the same time. Life expectation would have had nothing to do with it either, all live births had to be registered.

It is very likely that a late March birth would be registered in the next quarter. Nothing odd with that at all.

Why don't you put some details on here?

Does anyone know how much it cost to register a birth in 1902/3?
I am trying to find what are possibily a pair of twins, or 2 children born within a year of each other, they are both listed as 8 on the 1911 census.
One was born in late March 1903 but not registered until Apr/May/June quarter and I cannot find the registration of the other at the same time, or any other time.
So I was wondering if the cost of registering a birth may be sufficent reason to delay the registration of one of a pair of twins until the following month, which in this case happened to be the next quarter.
I also wondered if perhaps one of them was not expected to live much beyond birth if that could explain the different timing of registration
