Thanks . I'll check again but I didn't see any special offers where Family Tree Maker was included. I only have one search to do at the moment where no one seems to be able to help and a membership in Ancestry is pretty expensive.
Maybe I will pop over to the Mormon Church and see if someone there can help me. It is so much easier to research people in the UK back hundreds of years than it is to research back 50 years here.
I have queries out on a couple of boards for the different States and Counties, but unlike you wonderful people on GR I seldom if ever get a reply.
One site that I visit frequently here is 'allexperts.com' They have experts on every subject you can think of, including legal and genealogy. Just reading other peoples questions and answers is very educational. They sometimes take days to answer, but it's always good advice.....I have used it a few times for free legal advice.TRY IT . Do they have that site or something lke it in the UK ?

FTM is a tree program.

Subscription to Ancestry to view records is separate - Ancestry Essentials being the basic subscription package.

However it gets confusing because there are packages available which include both FTM and a starter subscription too, often discounted.

You need to check carefully to see what is in offer.

Hi Jonesey,
I just went back and checked the offer for here in the US
It is just the Ancestry Family Tree Maker, for $39.95 It doesn't mention anything about Ancestry Essentials. What is that ? Forgive my ignorance, but.........Is family tree maker, just a programme without a membership on Ancestry.com ?
I feel stupid, but I can't figure it out LOL Maybe it's age or the time of day.

Thanks Jonesey. Guess I will give the Ancestry Family Tree Maker a go.

Which is the easiest to use ? I just received an offer from Ancestry for $39. (I think) I don't have either one so was wondering which one to go with.
(I don't have a membership with Ancestry)

Thanks for any advice.
