It's difficult to track medals down, but you could try the regimental museum or look on ebay!

Thanks for your help.

the medal card of one of my relatives reads : returned, so they must be somewhere, even if in a museum or such just would like to know where they are and what happened to them.

Thanks.

You won't find parish records at Kew as a general rule. Nonconformist records are held but they are gradually being put online.

Regarding the medal cards - do you mean the references at the side of each medal? Something like F103/b 20 p 230 (letters may be different). This is the reference fior the medal roll which are held at Kew. This will give the battalion the man was in, usually, and MAY give info about what happened to the medals. Whatever happened to them, you won't be able to claim them now.

If you go to A2A which is part of the National Archives and put in the details of the parish you are looking for you will information of what there is for that parish and where the records are held.

well not really sure where to start just getting things together so as not to waste time when there.

I have a couple of copies of WW1 medal cards Id like the code deciphering,
one I have the medals for, the other seems to show returned, so would like to know if they are still unclaimed or whatever.
Also trying to find where I can look at Parish records for BMD etc if they are available there.
etc
Dont want you to go to expense for me but if you are there you could ask and let me know.

Thanks

Live in Spain so could be expensive for a long call just to be kept waiting.

thanks.

Thinking of visiting Kew, what is available, is it worth it, are parish records available there.
How do I find out about whether WW1 medals of relatives have been claimed or returned.

any advice welcome.
