I have been looking at familysearch.com and contemplating joining ancestry.co.uk

You will find a free 1881 census on this url http://www.familysearch.org/eng/default.asp

Also you would be better to join something like ancestry.co.uk for about £80 a year, they do a free 2 week trial & it works out much cheaper for searching all the census from 1841 - 1901 & they have other interesting items as well. pay as you go gets very expensive

Because the 1881 census is free to all, it isn't on here.

Access it via Family Search or Ancestry.

The 1881 census isn't available via this site. GR don't hold any census records, they redirect you through to other sites. The 1881 census is available for free elsewhere so they can't really charge you money for redirecting you to a free site!

Hi, I'm new to Genesreunited and slowly but surely building my tree....I can't locate the 1881 census on this site and find I'm having to go elsewhere for this, does anyone know why, is it here & I just can't see/find it??
