Hi there,
thanks for that, just a guess here, but could he have been born out of wedlock and went by the mothers maiden name, or maybe father died and mother remarried and took on new name and kept his own?
thanks

hi there,
Think it is his second name, presume maybe it comes from maybe his mothers maiden name or something. Dear is his surname, but then again who can say for sure.
thanks

Is 'Cummings' a second name or part of his surname?

Hi there,
Looking for a Stephen Cummings Dear. Most of the family came from the Leeds area, but it would be useful to find out where he came from and what he did, couldn't get access to Library as it was down, wasted journey. Possible birth 1830s but could be wrong. Think he could have been a coachman. Name of his father would be good too and where he came from although in know 1841 won't tell you that.
Thanks everyone.
