If you find Alston on google maps there is a Clitheroe about half a mile to the east.

I have just received a birth certificate of my gt. grandmother and on it, it says she was born at Clitheroe parish of Alston, Cumberland. Forgive my ignorance, but isn't Clitheroe miles from Alston? I would be grateful if anyone could explain this..
