help finding other half of a census record for 187

i am trying to find charles joseph clark and his wife eliza (elizabeth ) in 1871.
they married in steyning in 1857
i have found a 1871 census record for 7 hollingdean road st peter brighton sussex with elizabeth clark aged 10 and her brother walter clark aged 18 months both born preston sussex
but there are no other family on the census with them ????
the ages etc would fit for the births or charles and eliza children
i have tried to find a census for charles but no luck ???
any idears how to find the other half of the census record??
could the children be staying with family although they are listed as son and dau???
any help would be great

Always look at previous or following images if someone is at the top or bottom of a page

Can I point out that the father on census is Thomas not Charles Joseph.

out of curiousity are viewing the census record on this site?, if so it does not give you the option of looking at the next or previous pages, that is why you cannot see these pages.

Another one of the pitfalls of looking on GR for records

Oh Lorraine, if you are buying credits on here - Ive never done it but it sounds like you dont get a good deal - take a free 14 day trial with ancestry.co.uk - then you can search 24/7 for census and lots of other records.


Have you noted the point Jim has made about the fathers name?
