I should have learnt by now - sent a page of painstaking and slow research to a contact. How much effort does it take to click on reply and say "thanks" and maybe even "great research"?
Anyway I have the last laugh as this time I had enough sense to hold back the photographs and documents I have and which I would have sent as well if appreciation had been shown.

Its very disappointing when that happens isnt it. Id be over the moon if someone had sent me stuff like that.

I always hold back the photos and certificates until I know that the info. is appreciated. I've learnt my lesson.

If I don't get a reply I always send a follow up about a week later, politley checking if they have received everything ok.

On one occasion my email had been trapped by the other persons spam filter (because of the attachments) and they hadn't even seen it. On another occasion they were so delighted with the info I sent they had completely, and genuinely, forgotton to reply.

You've got a point there, Brinsley. I must admit, this week, I am about three days behind myself - I've still got two or three e-mails outstanding that I've got to answer - but I have been so busy doing one thing and another (normally I have empty weekends but last weekend and this weekend are busy for me, for a change) that I haven't had time to sit down and answer them properly. (Most of them being e-mails that need something more than a quick reply so I don't want to rush the answers.)

Kate, yes I know, today I have nbeen catching up with a few from early February, as you say, all of which require a bit of thought and research before answering.

I thought being retired was supposed to give you time on your hands? not here it doesn't......!
