How can you be sure this is your gggg grandfather? I'm not sure how you can connect someone who was listed as a visitor in 1851 to this marriage record.

Certificates for births marriages and deaths were not issued until the start of registration on July 1 1837

what you have must be a copy of the entry in the parish register ..... and they often did not show parents' names.

I presume this is what you have ....... this is from the International Genealogical Index on www.familysearch.org, the Mormon site ...... and it is an EXTRACTED record taken from the parish register, not a certificate

Now this is interesting

It's from the free site www.rootsweb.com, so you can go look at it yourself.

Enter Samuel Clayton on the home page

Scroll down and enter born Yorkshire, 1801 +/- 5 years

that gives ONE record.

Click on the tree owner's name

then follow through to find his listing of Clayton.

He has this Samuel Clayton married to Mary Fairburn, but the marriage date is different from what you have from familysearch. Other information is also different.

You may want to contact him

Hi Ozi,

I had seen that just didn't add all the household. She must be his daughter as is with the family in 1841 although Samuels age is only given as 35 in 1841 and even allowing for the roundind down it still makes him born a lot later.

What I meant was that it is a different Samuel living with Hannah so not sure what Jean means.

Honeywood Report 11 May 2009 11:09

Hi All
In the 1861 Cen I have Samuel living in Bowling back lane with daughter Emma (bording) age 63?. is Daughter Hannah Seaner lived near by, and i beleived that Samuel died while out walking with Hannah in 1862.

In the 1851 cen it says he was 56 so i think this would rule out the 1888 and 1889 births, so i think it would put him at about 1895/97 birth age,and its definitely that he was born in Bowling Bradford.
