Have you checked deaths for Michael Kennedy after John was born - perhaps he died and mother could not cope and that is why the children did not stay with her - perhaps she died and that was the reason the children were sent away. Irene

This is a bit of a maze. I looked through marriages between the 2 brothers birth dates and came across marriage of Michael C S Kennedy to a Mary Laing at Aldershot March 1945 but that was the best I could do.
You have an address for the birth of of John - can you check at the library at Hamstead for an electrol role for that address around that time. Might get a lead. I have a very old A-Z and Greencroft Gdns are at NW6 West Hamstead and those gardens are still in the modern A-Z. Irene

Maggie, You asked if my husband Michael Cunningham and his brother had the same addresses etc on their birth cert's. His brother John was born 30.11.1945 and we were sent a birth cert saying he was reg in Kennedy. St Josephs Home had info on John as being reg as Kennedy, but left him as Cunningham.(He was sent as a Child Migrant and lived all his life as John Cunningham.) A real maze heh!
Anyway this Cert for John Kennedy Vol 1A page 744 shows the same DOB above in Hampstead, Father Michael Kennedy,Mother Mary Kennedy formerly Cunningham. Unlike Michael's who only had Mary Cunningham ?? unsure if Married or Maiden name.
Occupation on John's Cert of Father Engineers Fitter. The informant was the mother of 113 Greencroft Gdns Hampstead. Have not found a Marriage Cert for the mother and hard to identify her.
The boys above are believed to have had a sister, born approx 1935 according to their immigration papers, no other info was given.
Hope I havent confused you, now I will try to put you in the picture about Mary Cunningham(mother) being the one from Liverpool.
After a lot of searching for a possible sister to Michael and John and using the years that the three children were born to a mother Mary Cunningham, her likely age etc this is what we found.
Sheila Cunningham Vol 1b page 530 born 30.1.1933, in Hackney.
Mother Mary Cunningham,Cook of 12 Keyle Block,Blackdown, Aldershot.
Residence of informant A.M Amson or Ainson?, of 153 Lower Clapton Rd, Hackney. Further searching revealed this as the Mothers Hosp and on admission papers: Informant Mary Cunningham(mother) 22yrs,nearest relative Aunty Mrs Ainson or Amson?
Mother would therefore have been born 1911 if Sheila is the sister.
Hope I havent lost you in this, its a bit of a maze, and Im open to suggestions about which is the correct Mary Cunningham.
Cheers and thanks for your time on this,
Mavis

Maggie,

I was explaining that the birth can't be found on the Ancestry search because they have him as Michael Cunliffe.

I then posted the correct info. for everyone.

Rose, that is not a mistranscription - am I daft?

But no idea why Mavis should assume their mother is Mary Cunningham of Liverpool.

Mavis can you enlighten us?

Maggie

The birth has been incorrectly transcribed as Cunliffe on Ancestry.

Hi Mavis.
Can I ask you why you think your Mary Cunningham is the one born in Liverpool? Also, do you have your husband's birth cert or just the emigration record? I ask because there are several birth records of Michael Cunningham on ancestry but none have his mother's name as the same.
I really hope you can succeed in this, it must mean a lot to you.

Hi Mavis. When you say there was no mother's maiden name give on the birth of Michael Cunningham, do you mean his mother's name was Cunningham and there was no father named?

Was his brother John the same?

Can't see how to help you. Maybe someone else has info on child migrants to Australia.

Maggie.

I have been using a process of elimination to find my late husbands Mother and family. He (Michael Cunningham) was born in Paddington in 1940 to Mary Cunningham, no fathers name or Mums maiden name given. He has a brother John Cunningham born 1945 and because they were sent to Australia as Child Migrants their records have no identifying info on them.
I am pretty sure that his mother is Mary Cunningham born 26.1.1911 at 12 Rathbone Pl Liverpool and her mother was Mary Williams born 1884, died 20.10.1922. Also married to Thomas Cunningham B. 1884 and died 2.1.1936 at 11 Elizabeth St Liverpool.
I have been at this for 30years and if anyone can suggest something I may have missed please do.
Thanks Mavis Cunningham
