i am doing some research for a friend of mine who doesn't have access to a computer. i have found their family on the 1911 census. The family concerned are living at 100 and 102 church street St Helens Lancashire. the address is that of a pub but it doesnt give the name of the pub . i have tried googling and looking on other census but without any luck .
anyone got any ideas how i can find out the name of the pub. they weren't at the pub in 1901 they were at a different address

I have an ancestor who is listed as a licensed victualler, who just supplied alcohol to the trade, but was not a publican.

Some public houses were just that - houses! They may have just sold beer from their home address.

Why not try phoning any pub in St. Helen's and ask where the Licensed Victualler's Association for the area is? Someone must keep records - even if it's at the local archives.

It could have been a beerhouse with no "name" as such. These were commonplace at the time.
