Should use his full name, but as proof of identity was not required years ago, he could have called himself........ 'Jack Sprat'............. or what ever!

Doesn't help much with us researching our ancestry though!!!

Hi, one of the common problems we often come across when tracing families. Is people changing their names. The most common one is a person using their middle name as their 1st name. ie Albert Walter, becomes known as Walter.

When this person marries;
Can he marry using his aka name, Walter?
Or does he have to use his birth name Albert Walter?
