I am not certain if this is what you want, but I tried what you described and it worked perfectly.

Create a Text Box. Use the Fill Color to change the colour of the box and then type what you want in the text box. It prints off as you see it on the screen.

The dimensions/font of the box can be changed at any time to suit your needs. The box can be moved around the page too.

Microsoft Publisher is part of the Microsoft Office Suite CD, our version of Publisher came on one CD along with Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Excel and a couple of other bits, it's not available free of charge.

Paula, I haven't got Publisher. Is it available as a download?

Thanks Ann, but it doesn't reproduce the background.

I am so disappointed, it is just the background that I want. I have also tried putting it into powerpoint with no success.

Guess I'll just have to put up with the crappy Ryman's powder blue card.

And the sugar pink for the female side.

Makes it all look so amateur.

Maggie.

not sure if this works but maybe worth a try
1. add shading using word

2. select all and select copy

3. open PAINT and paste into a file then save

4. open saved file with windows picture and fax viewer. this has an option for printing full page

Thank you Ann, but what a shame, it is just the colour I want! Coloured card is so naff by comparison. Borders and Shading don't go right to the edge of the page - or is there some way that I can make them do do?

from Word help menu

My document background doesn't print.
Document backgrounds are designed for viewing documents only. The background that you create by using the Background command on the Format menu will not print. To add printable borders or shading to your page, use the Borders and Shading command on the Format menu.

Hi all, am trying to print some narrative to go with my family tree presentation. Decided to print some with a background colour, but I can't get it to print. Microsoft Word. Go to Format, Background, Fill Effects, Blue Tissue Paper - and that is the background that I want to print. It doesn't work, it stays white.

Any boffin out there that can help please?

Maggie
