Ancestry's 1901 transcriptions were a rush job and are riddled with errors, whereas the original 1901 on-line version was was, and still is, more accurate, so yes, always check the records.

I always look at the image, as the transcrition is one persons opinion and there are many ways to misread old fashioned handwriting.

I've lost count of the number of corrections I have put into Ancestry, but at least it should make things easier for others.

I have a copy of the Microfilm page where:
a)My Aunt was exactly One week old at Census date. b)The next child was exactly Two weeks old.
c)A third child was 35 Minutes old.
However, on Internet transcript version:
a) was Age last birthday = 1;
b) Age last birthday = 2; and
c) Age last birthday = 11 !!!!
Luckily I had copied from Microfilm of a this particular union workhouse infirmary several ago - I does pay to check all one's research info. I informed an official on the NTA information desk who said that 35 minutes was a record for any Census and said he'd try and get this put right. Jasmine
