Register of Marriages 1576-1812

I have managed to find the marriage of a Richard Steward and Elizabeth Berry on 31st May 1764, its in the Mariages at Crondall Volume 3, but it doesnt state any parents or witnesses etc. I found it on Ancestry and it just says whoops we don't have a preview of this yet, but there is a lot more you can see then it just shows me the volume no etc. and their names and dates. Does this mean that if I track this down at the relevant offices I might be in with a chance of finding something else out. Thank y ou for your help.

It is extremely unlikely that any parental info will be on the register..........but checking the record at the appropriate County Records office may prove otherwise

Before you tootle off to Winchester, you might check if they hold the originals. I think they might only hold the Smiths' transcriptions, and their Bishops transcripts might only go back to 1780. I think the original OPRs are with Surrey RO in Kingston. Anyway, check it out first.
