Synagogue records have the Hebrew or Yiddish names and most of the time the English names as well. For marriage records the Entry will always give the fathers name The Gt Synagogue records start from about 1791,

The Jewish Genalogical Society of GT Britain has a good website.

Synagogue records may be your way forward. Have a google for the synagogue local to the area your people were born. One of the problems is that names may be anglicised and also changed.

Yes indeed Jews had to register births in exactly the same manner as the rest of the population. But if you cannot find a birth for one reason or another there are other sources which can be explored ie the Bevis Marks Synagogue publishes birth death & marriage registers and there is a new publication available called Birth Records of The Gt & Hambro Synagogue, I have a feeling that the Mormons have Jewish birth records as well I know they have The Gt Synagogue marriage records. The above Records are London. I should imagine Manchester & Leeds have similar records..

Do children born of Jewish parents have to be registered in the same way as other people's, particularly in the early 20th century?
