I am thinking about taking out a years subscription to Ancestry and wondered which willl be the most useful, the essentials or premium.
How much more information do you get with the premium.

I have done a lot of research and am looking to getting going again.

Thanks Rosalind

Thanks for the replies.

I have seen what it says on the subscribe page, but how comprehensive are the parish records they have. I have previously searched parish records in libraries, record offices and at an LDS centre, but I am a bit more limited out here, although as far as I know there is an LDS centre.

I am also trying to find out how comrehensive are their parish records and which parts of the country are covered before deciding whether to renew my subscription.

Hi Rosalind,

Whichever you choose, check out loyalty points from a certain large supermarket, as they are offering a deal on Family Tree Maker with 6 mths free Ancestry subscription at the moment.

Not sure if I'm allowed to say which one on here ;-)

Ooh, sorry, if you are really in Madeira though ... maybe you don't get that supermarket out there.

HI Sue,

yes I really am in Madeira and unfortunately we don't have Tescos, wish we did.
I already have a copy of FTM, although quite an old one, but it still suits my needs.

Thanks Jim, that is what I was wondering, so won't bother with the premium
Will have to check out the LDS centre here.

The parish registers are actual photocopies of original parish registers, at least the ones in Yorkshire were.

I have just had a look though and most of the parish registers seem to have now vanished although they are still photocopies of the originals.

Go to card catalogue, then on the next page type Parish Registers then search.
